Pat Riley, the legendary NBA coach and executive, is getting the Hollywood treatment in HBO's new series, Winning Time. Actor Adrien Brody plays a young Riley at a low point in his career, when he was struggling to find his way after retiring from the game.
In an interview with Variety, Brody said that he was drawn to the role because of Riley's "complexity" and "vulnerability." He also said that he wanted to show the "human side" of Riley, who is often seen as a tough and demanding coach.
Brody's performance has been praised by critics, who have said that he captures Riley's "swagger" and "intensity." The series, which premiered on March 6, has also been a hit with viewers, averaging over 10 million viewers per episode.
