Body of Blessed Carlo Acutis On Display for Veneration Ahead of Beatification
Charismatic youth to be beatified on October 10
When Blessed Carlo Acutis was interred at the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in 2006, moisture caused his body to rapidly decompose. As Catholics prepare to celebrate Acutis' beatification on October 10, his body has been placed in a new tomb for public veneration. To preserve his body, a silicone mask was created of his face and his body has been positioned to appear as if he is lying down.
A sign of hope for young people
Acutis, who died of leukemia at the age of 15, has become a popular figure among young people. He was known for his love of the Eucharist, his devotion to the Virgin Mary, and his passion for technology. His beatification is expected to draw a large crowd of pilgrims to Assisi.
