Former Lions CB Cameron Sutton Faces Prison Time for Alleged Strangulation
Allegations and Arrest
Former Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cameron Sutton has been charged with felony battery by strangulation and faces up to five years in prison if convicted. The charges stem from an alleged incident that occurred in Hillsborough County, Florida, on February 20, 2023.
Investigation and Surrender
Following a weekslong search, Sutton turned himself in to authorities on March 6th. Police had issued a warrant for his arrest after the alleged victim reported being strangled by Sutton while they were arguing.
Detroit Lions' Response
The Detroit Lions released Sutton from the team immediately after the warrant was issued. The team has stated that they are fully cooperating with law enforcement officials and will take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigation.
