Hurricane Francine Starting To Knock Out Power in Baton Rouge Region

Power outages beginning to affect tens of thousands

Over 30,000 residents without power

Hurricane Francine, a Category 2 storm, has begun to make landfall in the Baton Rouge region, and is already starting to cause power outages for tens of thousands of residents.

As of 9:00 AM, over 30,000 people are without power in the Baton Rouge area, according to the local utility company, Entergy.

The outages are widespread, but are集中 in the following areas:

  • Central Baton Rouge
  • Zachary
  • Denham Springs
  • Prairieville

Entergy crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible, but they are urging residents to be prepared for extended outages.

Hurricane Francine is expected to continue to bring heavy rain and wind to the Baton Rouge region for the next several hours. Residents should stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.
